08-27-2009 Paint mixer 2 progress
Got the pistons finished yesterday started on the heads today. Had to change the design a bit those thread caps weren’t cutting it. Good news is that we can use unthreaded pipe as a result. I am sticking with nipples for this one since the shafts are finished for the 6 six inch nipple. Got the motors and relays today they shorted us one relay I called their CS and another is on the way. Motor controller gets here tomorrow. I think I will postpone my days off untill the following week.
It’s suppose to rain all next week not real good roofing weather besides I’d just be thinking about getting this thing done anyway.
09-03-2009 Paint mixer 2 progress
Got the rest of the top heads done. I have a system now. The bottoms will be next. All the gear is here so things are progressing.
Curtis stop back by the shop this am and gave me about a grand or more worthof tooling. Lots of high end carbide end mills and such. Now Ive got a serious mill want. Said he had no use for them anymore pretty genorous dude. I am waffaling about next week. I really want to finish this but the 21st is coming up fast. I’ll make a solid decision tomorrow and let you know.

Got the retaining plates finished. Just need to cut and fit retaining rods will make a simple jig and then drill top cylinder head, piston and bottom cylinder head simoltaneously. Then I need to cut thread rod. Also need to tap fill plug holes in clylinder and tap holes for upper lower prox switches. After that turntable and wiring.

Got the holes for the guide rod drilled totally stressful. One screw up and I would have had to make new parts… everything went off like a charm. Got the motors mounted and the threaded rod all cut by eod tommorrow this should be looking like something. Need to thread one end of the guide rod and then assemble may need to do some finesse work on the main shafts withregard to length minor though.

All the internal parts are done only thing I need to do is drill and tap the cylinders then star fitting them together got the sliding caps made put one together to show you how it works.

Started fit and finish have all the shafts fit and lower cylinder heads turned flush with the bottom bracket to acomodate the sliding cap. Drilled and tapped holes for upper and lower prox switch and fill plug.
I am breaking the pistons and cylinders in by hand a couple a dozen plunges of the piston down the cylinder with a little cutting oil and they start to feel tight and smooth. I packed up all the electronics for the control board and plan on laying that out while I watch the huskers… :-)
Monday complete fit and finish Tuesday turntable etc.
Feeling much better mega doses of vitamin d lots of water and sleep.

3 finished paint dispensers!!! Took the am to finish one and this pm to get two finished. I am on a roll!
Layed out the e components that will piggy back on the trolley. I am going to go with a two tier set up. I ll send a pic and you’ll see why.
Got a kick out of the Serbian company who was “desperate for this machine”
Tommorow shooting the moon and I am going for five! Love the posts today and over the weekend want to get painting again!!!!
